Projects include a variety of useful beaded beads, solutions for improving crimping and wear of beading wire, wireworked elements and connections, simple removable clasps, and a variety of engineering and construction tips.

A simple kit containing items we will use in class, such as fine silver and sterling wire, beading wire, crimps, a handmade clasp, and a small selection of seed beads is available to each student for only $25.  Please allow Kate to provide these kits so that we are all working with the same materials.

This class is meant for students of all levels, and will benefit advanced beaders as well as beginners.

In this excellent one-day class, Kate will teach you many wonderful ideas about making beadwork that stands the test of wear and time. Learn how to avoid sewing any type of beadwork directly to a clasp, how to edge bind your work, and design in sections, so that you can build in points of movement, and allow to easily resize your work without remaking the beaded or strung sections. Kate’s focus is on smooth engineering—people working in any style of beadwork or bead stringing will enjoy the new ideas, and even advanced superbeaders will come away from class with new things to think about. Don’t miss this exciting session with Kate, whose entire brain is taken up at all times with the question, “I  wonder how I could do this better?”

Supplies:

One tube of size 10 or 11 seed beads, and one half tube of size 13, 14, or 15 charlottes.
Beading thread (I use black Nymo O, B and D from the three ounce cones) Thread Heaven or wax.
